Downloading and installing wordpress into a localhost {WAMP, XAMP, MAMP}


1. visit www.wordpress.org to download the wordpress usually in zip format.
2. locate your wamp folder in your computer Local Disk (C:), to wamp folder, double click on “www” folder inside the wamp folder.
3.Extract the wordpress folder into the 'www' folder.

Local Disk (C:) => wamp => www
4.Run your WAMP server,
5. Open your browser and type: localhost/wordpress.
6. “Welcome to WordPress. Before getting started, we need some information on the database.
You will need to know the following items before proceeding.” After reading the short information, click on Lets go!


7. Another page appears with the link “http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/setup-config.php?step=1”. Before you proceed,
go back to your task bar at the bottom of you desktop, click on the green W tray, Click on phpMyAdmin,


a page loads on your browser.
8. When you see this, do not be afraid, you will be thought in our next tutorial on how to create databases with tables.
But for now, see what you will do

a. Click on Databases
b. On the space provided, type in the name of your database you want. Example “wordpress”. Thats all for now.
9. Go back to your browser and change the textfields provided,
i. change database name to “wordpress” password leave it blank, username to “root”. These are default details. Ignore any other information you see there for now and click SUBMIT.


10. “All right, sparky! You’ve made it through this part of the installation.
WordPress can now communicate with your database. If you are ready, time now to…” Click on “Run the install”.
11. Fill in the information provided,
i. your site title, you can always change this.
ii. Username
iii. Password is automatically generated. Copy it and paste it in any of your text editor example, Notepad.
iv. Your working Email
v. Do not check Discourage……..whatever…blablabla,
12. Click on install WordPress. this may take time compared to other steps you took.
13. Finally, a page appears where you log in.

NB. IF IT REFUSES TO LOGIN, GO TO WHERE YOU SAVED THE PASSWORD, COPY IT AND PASTE IT IN THE SPACE FOR PASSWORD.
